ROSHNI is a special school and therapy centre for children and young adults with neurological disabilities (such as cerebral palsy and learning disabilities), many living in extreme poverty, who otherwise would be deprived of education and rehabilitation services.
“Friends of ROSHNI UK” is a registered charity which supports the work of ROSHNI in India, through raising funds and sending skilled volunteers.
Our Plans For 2010
We are 5 years old!!
It’s hard to believe we have achieved so much in just 5 years…the time has flown by! 16 amazing professional volunteers, over £43,000 sent to India, an entire sensory room and hundreds of pairs of boots and splints later…we found ourselves wondering what could we do to mark our 5th year. We decided that this year, rather than raising money for the next stage of the building, we want to support the cost of delivering and developing the amazing services ROSHNI provide to disabled children and young adults in Gwalior. The Early Intervention project, special school, vocational training, inclusive education project, teacher training, awareness raising and advocacy …the list goes on and on.
We are going to try and raise £1000 for every month of our birthday year…that’s £12,000 for ROSHNI.
But we need your help!
We are looking for supporters to pledge to raise a certain amount for us over the coming year. It sounds like a lot of money, but we figured that if just 24 people pledged to try and raise £500, we would meet our target. Or if 100 people pledged to donate £10 to us every month for a year. Or just 12 people, or groups of friends or colleagues aimed to raise a whopping £1000 each…could you do it?!
