Early Intervention Group
The Early Intervention Group was started in 2002 for children aged 1-5 years. The group meets three times a week, and is led by a teacher and therapist. Together, the children play games and sing songs. This is all aimed at promoting physical, educational, social and sensory development.
Parents are given lots of ideas of games they can play at home with their children, as well as being given individual therapy programmes. Last year, therapists from the Early Intervention Programme took on a new role working in a local Special Care Baby Unit. Here they show parents and medical staff how to position and stimulate the babies to help reduce the likelihood of delayed development. This is having a very positive impact on the babies.
